Our history
For six generations, we have put our heart and soul into perfecting hydrangeas. We do everything we can to offer our customers the best hydrangeas in the world. Our quest for even stronger stems, more colors and a long lifespan never ends. Our passion for hydrangeas is our driving force, in the field and in the laboratory.
FOR 6 GENERATIONS
Our family tree is rooted in floriculture. Six generations of the Schoemakers family have contributed to the growth of our company and each of them has continued to perfect it. Alex Schoemaker is building on this family tradition today. With his vision, innovation and entrepreneurial spirit, he is breaking new ground to develop the best hydrangeas in the world.
BORN IN BOSKOOP
Living Creations comes from Boskoop, a picturesque Dutch town with narrow drawbridges, windmills and many nurseries. Boskoop is in the middle of the Silicon Valley of flower growers. At Living Creations, we are inspired by the history, innovative spirit and sustainability of our town - a down-to-earth town with a global vision.
THE LONGEST-LASTING HYDRANGEAS
We are only satisfied with the best. 99% of what we develop is not good enough for us. We concentrate on the best 1 %. It can take 10 years from the idea for a new variety to market maturity. This demand for the highest quality has resulted in perfect hydrangeas - easy to care for, hardy and flowering all summer long.
WITH LOVE
To achieve this longevity, we have started breeding young hydrangeas. Everything can be achieved through careful breeding: from the strongest stems to the brightest colors and all the characteristics of hardy hydrangeas.
ON THE TEST BENCH
But how can young plants be put to the test? We have developed a test center for this purpose. White coats and test tubes? Not at all. Our breeds were exposed to natural weather conditions, from freezing cold winters to summer heat.
GOAL ACHIEVED
After a decade of testing new ideas, we finally found the best hydrangea formula for our first collection. We are pleased to introduce the Living Creations® collection, a range of strong, robust hydrangeas that will last a lifetime.
